A rundown of what we're doing,
watching, reading, coveting.
Here's what's got our attention this week.
  • Louise turned seven this week! While she’s a little old for play dough, I saw this beautiful one at our neighborhood toy store, Norman & Jules, and decided to try it for her. It’s been a hit amongst everyone in the house. It uses natural dyes, with ingredients like beetroot, spirulina, beta carotene, and turmeric combined with skin-friendly organic jojoba and lavender oils, so it smells amazing! And is packaged in compostable containers. You can shop it here.

  • After our 13-yr old chocolate lab passed away last year, I commissioned one of my favorite illustrators, Leah Reena Goren, to do an illustration of her (my pic this week, above). This illustration captures her so perfectly and is such a treasure to have now that she’s gone. Leah has a beautiful new book coming out called Catlady, A Love Letter to Women and Their Cats. While I’m not a cat person, I am an illustrator person, even when cats are involved apparently because I already have a list of people who are getting this book. Available for pre-order here.

  • I’ve had the same ski gloves for 15 years and break them out when it’s really cold. Pushing a stroller to school in the morning for over a mile requires a good set of gloves! For Christmas, John got me a new pair that I didn’t think I needed, until I started using them recently. Woah. Not even comparable. So soft + so toasty! I didn’t know what I was missing! Griffin lovingly told me they look like oven mitts, which is 100% accurate, and now they make me laugh every time I wear them. Happily. And with the warmest fingers ever.

  • I’m in full nesting and decor mode as we try to make our house more of our own. I am eyeing these light fixtures for the kids rooms (to replace some horribly outdated “boob” lights), and am hunting for book storage like this and this, but hopefully at a lower price.
  • Liz gave India this “Make a Face” activity book for Christmas and plotting out these faces really occupies her time! If you have a flight in your near future with a toddler, I think it would be a great addition to your carry on.
  • Things have been moving quickly during our sale !! There are LESS than a handful of our sweet muslin dresses left, which we love so dearly. India has been layering it with turtlenecks and leggings all winter long.
