• Louise is in First Grade and a determined new writer. She is working so hard on her letters and spelling and takes it very seriously. She recently asked for a pencil case, so I picked up a blank canvas one at our local art supply store (like these here), broke out our stencils and introduced her to fabric markers. She was in heaven. Griffin too! It was a fun activity to do with them. (Less so with James who will use a marker on any surface he pleases--so be warned--not ideal for all three year olds.)

• I am a big fan of Katie Kimmel’s work. It’s fun and funny and makes me smile. Every so often she’ll take custom orders, and til tomorrow only!! she’s taking orders for custom pet vases! We lost our sweet labrador this summer, so I’m treating myself to one in her memory as a gift to John. (John, that last part of that last sentence starting with “...as a gift” was a lie.) Katie welcomed any additional photos + comments, so I emailed her that I liked when Kinglsey panted that it looked like she was smiling. And she wrote back!! STAR STRUCK!

• Griffin turns nine today! Hard to believe. He was born before Instagram even! Two days, actually. :) He proved his age to me last weekend when he introduced me to Dude Perfect - a bunch of guys that make trick shot videos. (Actually kind of entertaining, even though I was very skeptical.) “Mom! I can’t believe you haven’t heard of them. They have like 100 million subscribers on YouTube!” (46 million but I get his enthusiasm.) He’s officially old, and so am I. But as I remind his rolling eyes everyday–still + always my baby.

• A collaboration between two of my all time favorites.

• It’s Major’s birthday next week (ONE !), and we’re celebrating with a few friends at an apple orchard this weekend. I’ve been gathering up my picnic ideas, and I plan on making these, this, and I’m going to  try to recreate this pretty spread from this gorgeous house tour. Wish me luck !
