  • Not every word is the most appropriate, but my kids are in love with the Dog Man book series. I edit a little as I read, but they laugh and laugh and laugh.

  • Growing up, I remember my mom telling me that I’d one day do something with my hands. It’s one of those Mom sayings that has stuck with me over the years. (Do you remember things like this too? So curious what my kids would say!) And while I don’t use my hands all the time for work (other than to type!), I do love making things. So I was thrilled when my crafty friend Jessie hosted a night of painting candles. She supplied each of us with a set of tapered candles and we painted tiny motifs using water-based paints. It was so nice to sit and work on something separately but together. Like toddlers play! And the craft itself is super approachable. Would be a fun craft to do with kids as a special gift!

  • I love licorice as a flavor, but had never tried licorice tea until recently, and now I can’t get enough of this one. It’s a little bit sweet, and the perfect caffeine-free drink for cozy afternoons + evenings.

  • If you are looking to gift a 6th grader in your life, might I suggest just putting a bow on this unlikely idea. Seems to be all my son and all his friends ever talk about or want these days.
